About Waise

Waise has spent the last two decades asking all kinds of oddball questions. The first real question he asked brought him to the Kabul Military Training Center in the summer of 2006. Here he sought to find out more about the young Afghan men stepping up to join the Afghan National Army.

That question led him to producing and directing STANDING UP: TAKING OVER THE WAR, a feature length documentary that put a human face on the lives of the Afghan men that would go on to become the first line of defense in the War on Terror in Afghanistan, fighting and dying by the thousands.

Following this first film Waise has gone to ask if REAL MEN SURPRISE THEIR DATES, helming one of the first successful guerrilla viral video efforts in the Philippines – and provided minor (but important) contributions to award winning documentaries like THE KINGMAKER and THE CLEANERS.

Waise is (and will always be) an insatiably curious cat. That curiosity has led him to animal shelters run by Royal Marines in Kabul, ancient Egyptian mysteries entombed for thousands of years in the Red Sea and to the jungles of Vietnam in search of American MIA lost for decades.
